Over times I have discovered most people do things for their own self
interests (well that's not too bad though), their answers when asked
this question, "what do you wanna become?" Or "what's your pursuit".
You hear or read a lot of answers like "I wanna be a public
administrator", "I wanna be a business consultant", "I wanna be a
doctor" and so on. And when u ask "why", 90% would probably say "because there is cool cash in that field" and only few would say "because it's needed in the society".
The subtopic for this write up is selfishness. I was at somewhere when
the teacher/motivator said something about being great. He made me
understand that if you want to be a great person, you must eradicate
selfishness from your life. And make your passion to be a benefit to
others. Then I thought of it deeply and discovered the words are deep.
Take note: there is difference between greatness and wealth. When you
are great, that greatness can't be covered. But there are lots of
wealthy men today that people don't even recognize.
I want you reading this to think of yourself as a
blessing unto others and not just for your self alone. The phone you are
using now was made by someone. The television you watch today was also
first made by someone. Even the doctors that treat you when you are ill
are people who have passion for saving lives. The work you are doing
today shouldn't just be because of profit alone but for the betterment
of others. "Am a teacher because I wanna impact knowledge" "am a banker
because I wanna do my work differently and stay away from fraud" anywhere you find your self be it school, office, home, anywhere! Do something
there that when u leave your absence would be missed.
But remember! You can't clear selfishness from the world because its
older, wider and larger than you, but you can eradicate it completely from
your life. Thank you
