Innocence

Sometimes ago, I was carrying a 4months old baby... I did as usual how I do to other babies like kissing their soft and smooth cheeks, saying words like "jiggyjiggy" "pammmm" (weird though). Then I watched the baby's response. There was a big, loving, sweet, and most of all innocent smile
along with some chuckling which sounded almost like a lullaby. I then called out his name and he didn't even respond like "huh" then I knew he was too green to even recognize his name.
Later that evening when I'd retired to bed to rest, the incident flashed back to my mind and then I concluded that I saw pure innocence. The wondering continued within me, and then I also derived a question. "Can't pure innocence be maintained".
Well even if a person is isolated in a building for a life time, as the person grows so as the mind develops. The person will one day ask " why am I always in this room" "who makes the food brought to me" "how dose the outside of this room looks like" and so many other curious questions. Well we may still say the person is still within the boundaries of innocence but not pure innocence.
        OK... Let's see from another angle. A free child who goes to school, attend church services, celebrate birthday parties with kids like him,  watch cartoons, and so many other normal things without the influence of corruptible mentoring.
Still that child would want to practice the "kung fu" acts he watches, talk like other kids in school (who are definitely not from the house he is been brought up). Innocence is really fading from that child.
     Have you even ever wondered why some people are named "Innocent" (that sounds almost impossible to me). Even when questioned why they are being called that, you hear "because am innocent" (with their eye brows raised). Now what's innocent in someone who knows about the plight of his country. What's innocent in someone who knows the names of the hottest club in his city. Well, the last time I checked, only the "minds of the green" are innocent. We all should just ask for Gods grace to carry on.... Thanks.
